Oil makes you sick? HA!

Last week I heard Rush Limbaugh talking about a program he had viewed on the History Channel; Modern Marvels - Oil. He highly recommended it so I watched it. He was right! Oil isn't just a modern marvel, it's instrumental in all aspects of our lives! Oil has definitely made our lives much easier and, in many cases, saved our lives. Lubricants of all kinds for both machines and our bodies, come from oil. Fuels of all sorts come from oil. Plastics! In fact, the miracles of modern medicine would be impossible without derivatives of oil. I've compiled a partial list of items made from oil in whole or in part:

  • Toothpaste
  • Shower curtains
  • Plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, cleaners of all kinds and the plastic bristle brushes we use with them
  • Toilet bowl cleaning brushes
  • TOILETS!
  • Indoor plumbing!
  • PVC pipes – 66% of all water pipes are made from PVC
  • Mineral oil – skin lotion, suntan lotion, baby oil (100% mineral oil)
  • Vaseline – a jar of which is sold every 39 seconds
  • Makeup, Lipstick
  • Shoes, socks, stockings, sneakers, exercise wear
  • Exercise equipment
  • Aspirin
  • Capsules which contain medicine
  • Heart valves
  • Syringes
  • oxygen masks and tenst (for babies)
  • asthma inhalers
  • Glasses and Contact lenses
  • Sunglasses
  • Watches
  • Umbrellas
  • Toys
  • Plastic eating utensils, plates, and cups
  • Plastic trays in microwave dinners and the material which covers them
  • Straws which children love and which I use to drink beverages which can stain teeth
  • Refrigerators, Microwave ovens, Toaster ovens, counter top convection ovens
  • Milk bottles, water bottles, juice bottles, soda bottles; food containers of all sorts including plastic bags
  • Food grade oil for lubricating the machines in food production – this is required by the FDA. In fact, food production as we know it would be impossible without it.
  • Faucets at the kitchen, bath, tub and shower and the knobs which control hot and cold water flow.
  • Trash bins and barrels
  • Vertical blinds & horizontal blinds
  • Window tinting which is extremely important in the desert southwest along with shade screens which block out 70-90% of UV rays keeping our homes cooler thereby saving energy (the screens on my home are 80% blockout).
  • Light switches and plate covers in our homes
  • Ceiling fans; covers for ceiling and wall mounted light fixtures
  • Security system controllers
  • Thermostats and temperature controls of various types used to control the temperature in our homes, offices, hospitals, movie theatres, shopping centers, factories, etc
  • Ear protection during noisy activities protect our hearing
  • Football and other helmets
  • Washing machines, Dryers, Dishwashers, trash compactors, irons and steamers
  • Garage door openers
  • Computers and peripherals, Televisions, VCRs, DVD players / recorders, Radios, Stereo Speakers, MP3 players, headphones, phones, cellphones, camaras
  • DVDs, CDs and before that record albums, cassettes, and 8-tracks and the packaging
  • Golf balls and tees
  • Paraffin wax – crayons, paintballs, candle wax
  • Book covers
  • Hot tubs
  • Boats, Kayaks
  • Life saving floatation devices
  • Parachutes
  • Tanning beds
  • The flag waving outside your home on holidays and sometimes the flag pole it’s attached to
  • Mailing envelopes of plastic which are used instead of boxes for unbreakable items such as books or clothing saves us money and energy every time we mail/ship anything
  • Packing peanuts
  • Swimming pools – above ground pools; filtering and cleaning equipment; pool toys
  • Patio furniture
  • Asphalt – 94% of the 4 million miles of roads in the USA are covered with asphalt; that is 19,000 square miles which is enough to pave over all of New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Rhode Island.
  • Shingles – 12.5 billion square feet asphalt shingles per year which is enough to cover 5 million homes per year; 80% of the homes in the USA are topped with asphalt shingles
  • Rubber – that’s right we are not getting rubber from trees anymore!
  • Sulfur which is used in fire extinguishers, agricultural fertilizers, rubber tire manufacturing, and explosives
  • Antifreeze
  • Iron works to fuel the furnaces
  • Propane which powers 17 million homes; farmers use it to wither weeds in their fields and to sanitize livestock houses without chemicals
  • Top Secret Weapons Depots
  • Bullet resistant windows
  • Chemical protective suits
  • The Space Shuttle Crawler Transporter
  • Lubricants of all kinds including those used for lubricating the chains on chain saws; fire-resistant hydraulic fluids for foundries so that if there is a leak it doesn’t catch fire; navy oils for the hydraulics to move the rudders, missile batteries, guns, catapult.
  • Additive for motor oil which keeps our engines running in hot and cold extreme weather
  • Sea walls, piers, dykes
  • Vehicles - Air bags; Steering wheels; dashboards; the knob on the gear shift; too many items to list!
A few facts ...
  • 1.4 billion gallons of motor oil used every year which can ALL be re-refined and re-used which could save 90,000 barrels of oil a day. This re-refining requires 50% less energy than the original refining.
  • Add just one penny to the cost per gallon of jet fuel and the airline industry expenses soar more than $180 million dollars.
So, for poor Harry Reid who says "oil makes us sick" I say I guess you should probably make sure that none of the above items be used in your life. Of course, that would mean you live a lifestyle which was common around 1900. But that's probably what Harry and San Fran Nan and Algore and other elitists actually want for us. I say those rich elitists show us the way. Go ahead Harry, Nancy, and Al since you know better than the rest of us lowly little nobodies. Demonstrate it for us. No aircraft. No motorized vehicles. No toothbrushes. No refrigerators. No microwaves. Nothing to store your food in except glass bowls and no plastic wrap to cover it in. No miracles of modern medicine for you. No makeup for Nancy. Yikes!

As for me, I will continue to reap the benefits provided by oil and its derivatve products.
Update: I have concluded that the elitsts are not morons. No, they aren't stupid; they've evil. They want power at any cost. They would have us living in caves and dying by the millions for want of decent medical care and safe food and drinking water. They must be defeated!
